NASA National Campaign

NASA is committed to working with industry, government and community groups and stakeholders to promote public confidence and accelerate the realization of emerging aviation markets, including Advanced Air Mobility, for passenger and cargo transportation in urban, suburban, rural and regional environments. The results and lessons learned from research and activities in this campaign including flight testing and demonstrations will be publicly disseminated to the maximum extent possible to provide benefit for industry, government and the general public.
The Ohio Department of Transportation was selected for the AAM Community Planning and Integration annex of the campaign. ODOT and team members will analyze critical considerations such as vertiport infrastructure, power, public acceptance, local policy (e.g. ordinances and zoning), multi-modal integration, etc. Team members will also investigate key community integration barriers such including public acceptance, supporting infrastructure, operational integration, and local regulatory environment and liability. The team members selected to participate with ODOT in this campaign were carefully selected in order to ensure that a comprehensive and inclusive plan for enabling AAM in Ohio would be a reality.
The state of Ohio has a desire and commitment to integrate AAM operations and services into their transportation networks and serve as an early adopter AAM location.
